About PortAventura Park

PortAventura Park is one of the largest and most visited theme parks in Europe, in Salou on Spain's Costa Daurada, an hour south of Barcelona. It is laid out in six themed areas — Mediterrània, Far West, México, China, Polynesia and the children's area SésamoAventura — each with its own architecture, shows and coasters. Ferrari Land and the Caribe Aquatic Park water park sit next door and are sold as separate tickets.

Which rides get the longest queues

The headline coasters take almost all the queueing. Shambhala, a hypercoaster over 75 metres tall in the China area, and Dragon Khan, famous for its eight inversions, draw the biggest crowds, especially mid-morning. Furius Baco in Mediterrània launches from 0 to 135 km/h in a few seconds and queues heavily because of its limited capacity. Uncharted, the indoor coaster that opened in 2023, still pulls long waits as one of the newest additions. El Diablo - Tren De La Mina and Angkor round out the busiest rides.

How to avoid the queues

Frequently asked questions

How long are the waits at PortAventura?

It depends on the day and the ride. On busy summer days the headline coasters like Shambhala or Dragon Khan can exceed an hour, while midweek in the shoulder season they rarely pass 30-40 minutes. The live waits on this page show the real figure right now.

Is PortAventura Express worth it?

On busy days — summer, weekends and public holidays — it can save hours of queueing on the most popular rides. On a quiet day in the shoulder season, arriving early and planning your route is usually enough.

Are PortAventura and Ferrari Land the same park?

They are next to each other but they are separate parks with separate tickets. Red Force, the tallest and fastest coaster in Europe, is in Ferrari Land. Many combined tickets cover both.

What is the best time of day to avoid queues?

The first hour after opening and the last hour before closing are the quietest. Midday and mid-afternoon are the peaks.
