About Parc Astérix
Parc Astérix is in Plailly, about 35 km north of Paris, and it is France's great home-grown theme park: based on the Astérix and Obélix comics, it is arranged in areas devoted to the civilisations that appear in the albums — Gaul, the Roman Empire, Greece, Egypt and the Vikings. It has a strong reputation among enthusiasts for its coaster line-up, considerably more intense than its family-friendly look suggests.
Which rides get the longest queues
Toutatis, the launch coaster that opened in 2023, draws the biggest crowds as the newest and most intense ride. OzIris, the inverted coaster in the Egyptian area, and Goudurix, with its seven inversions, build long waits. Tonnerre 2 Zeus, the wooden coaster, and Le Vol d'Icare round out the busiest rides. Discobélix and L'Hydre de Lerne queue steadily, and in summer water rides such as Epidemaïs Croisières fill up as soon as it gets hot.
How to avoid the queues
- Ride Toutatis as soon as the park opens: newest ride, slowest queue to clear.
- Save the shows — the dolphins and the Gaulish performances — for midday, when ride queues dip.
